Growth leaders identify and evaluate targets and opportunities using multiple sources. One common strategy is to target contract recompetes and those which are potentially vulnerable, with a primary vulnerability being contracts held by companies that have been acquired.

Case in point – even before the ink was dry on the recent news detailing the planned acquisition of a leading consultancy that specializes in modernizing and innovating by providing Artificial Intelligence, DevSecOps, Cloud and Infrastructure, Data Management and Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Design, the OS AI team had already fielded requests looking to better understand this organization’s current contracts within certain agencies and capabilities.

We should note that being acquired does not make a company’s contracts inherently vulnerable as there are many factors in play but included here we do share 20 of this  Federal Health player’s contracts and tasks from across the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs that will be expiring in the months and years ahead and that have drawn the most interest.

Most Viewed Expiring Contracts or Tasks for Octo Consulting across HHS and VA

HHS

VA (by way of Octo’s prior acquisition of T4NG Prime B3 Group)

Two Major IDIQ Contracts to Note

Two IDIQs that have drawn interest include Octo’s Prime roles on the $75B Alliant 2 GWAC and the $25B VA VECTOR IDIQ. The former was acquired via the SEVATEC acquisition and it has known tasks awarded under it, and the VA IDIQ acquired via the B3 Group acquisition has no known tasks awarded under it. We cannot and will not speak to the rules about another firm acquiring these contracts, but both do have enough runway to justify an inquiry.

Dance Lightly. Do know that some of these potential requirements will NOT end up being recompeted at all for any number of reasons (e.g., contract consolidation, extension, cancellation, etc), but this list can serve as a great foundation as you build out your pipeline and evaluate future targets.

In addition, included below is a list of the large and small companies we have noted as drawing the most views by Government and industry leaders on the OrangeSlices AI consultant directory since the beginning of 2023 and that bring direct past performance and/or related relationships in support of HHS, CMS and VA.

** An Elev8 GovCon Honoree, noted for a corporate culture that demonstrates excellence, making the company a beacon for talent, for partners, and for clients.

We cannot and will not speculate here as to the reasons for the increased interest, but whether it is recent strategic hires, key acquisitions, or new strategic partnerships and relationships they have fostered, this group has been exceptionally busy during 2023, laying the groundwork necessary to win in this dynamic and competitive marketplace.
