Members of the OrangeSlices AI team attended Thursday’s popular Federal Health Happy Hour. If you don’t go to this recurring and increasingly popular event hosted by Shelley McGuire, you are missing out. It is always a fun and well-run event filled with valuable updates and connections added every time. (Track her events here)

In the interests of sharing what we heard, first off we share that Ron Williams, a GSA IT Modernization Centers of Excellence Director for Cloud Adoption & Infrastructure Optimization dropped into the meeting to share a bit about the Applied AI Healthcare Challenge (details here) that is open until March 20, 2023. For startup and leading-edge technology companies who are working on advanced artificial intelligence, this is a great way to showcase emerging and brand new technologies and tools. While the dollar value is not huge, all finalists will get a chance to present their innovations at an industry day hosted by GSA. That type of press can be quite valuable for companies trying to validate and share new technologies and capabilities.

Opportunity Updates – Secondly, for those who were unable to attend, included below are a few insights related to some of the upcoming and active RFPs from across the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, to include a new and soon to be released development platform opportunity that has not made it to the forecast yet.

*Please note that this is the way OS AI heard it. If you are pursuing any of these opportunities, we encourage you to validate this information. We all know how quickly things can change. If anyone heard something different from what we provided, please message us at support@orangeslices.ai and we will make any changes necessary.

It was a light meeting this month with only a few CMS acquisitions discussed this evening:

ACME – The latest update is that it is still in the review process, but CMS “is almost there!” – note the exclamation point. There is some hope that the award will be completed soon, but it is better for the agency to get it right as, while we are not weather forecasters, there is always a better than average chance that it will rain post-award protests anytime this high profile of a vehicle is awarded.

Service Center Update – Sabrina Thompson is the CO. They are still in Phase I review process.

EAOS Operations Update – Ben Stidham is the CO. This is currently expected to go out on GSA MAS full and open sometime around March 24th.  While this will not be set-aside, there will be a significant subcontracting plan requirement with a 15% minimum on task order award dollars.

CMS CALM Development PlatformAndrew Mummert is the CO. This is expected to go out on GSA MAS and could be out any day. This was not on the forecast, so there you go.

One other notable item is that small businesses who wish to do business within CMS and NIH were encouraged to attend the upcoming NCMA Small Business Matchmaking Symposium! This popular event was expanded this year but it can book up quickly.
