Defense Health IT Firms Take Center Stage at HIMSS: Kanban board, Agile and Open Engagement to drive Agile DHA initiatives

Leaders from many of the top Federal Health agencies and IT consulting firms will be landing in Chicago next week for the very popular HIMSS 23 Health IT conference. Anyone who has been to this conference before knows that it can be quite overwhelming if you do not have a plan, so having a deliberate approach, to include a list of daytime and after-hours events, as well as a targeted list of individuals and firms to get to know, is important. The recent announcement by the Defense Health Agency in relation to a key new multiple-award IDIQ contract to support implementing Agile techniques by delivering DevSecOps practitioners, designers, and innovators will and should shift the priority for some Federally focused HIMSS attendees when it comes to both discussion topics to be had, as well as which firms (potential teaming partners/competitors) and individuals will be important to try and connect with while in the Windy City.

The DevMac IDIQ will be one of the hotter topics this week and PEO DHMS will be one of the more visited booths. The open and transparent approach taken by Defense Health Agency and Contracting Officer J.R. Oliver** in relation to the development of this high-profile DevMac opportunity was very well received by industry leaders. Beyond just the traditional SAM post, Oliver and the PEO DHMS contracting office posted a video detailing the status of this important IDIQ, while outlining their plans to share a kanban board to help companies track progress for this contract which is part of the PEO 3.0 Digital Transformation Strategy. Maybe more impressive was a statement by Oliver which drove home their plans to keep the entire community abreast and to ensure the playing field is level for the many hundred companies that are closely tracking this opportunity. More to be announced on this “more manageable, more prototype-ish” oriented contract which seeks to develop technical teams that can adapt to meet current and emerging needs in the weeks and months ahead.

Partnering – Starting with GDIT’s Happy Hour on Monday, this week at HIMSS 23 is all about partner [and competitor] identification. Not surprisingly, the OrangeSlices AI team has seen an increase in requests and searches from companies seeking information about the top IT & Consulting partners supporting Military Health since last months’ DHA Industry Day, with a notable surge over the last few days. Shared below is a list of those companies which are drawing interest and that should be on your list to target both this week and in the future.

30 Defense Health Agency IT & Consulting firms drawing the most attention over the past Month

Included below is a list of the large and small companies we have noted were searched and viewed the most on OrangeSlices AI in the past 30 days and that bring direct past performance and/or relationships in support of the Defense Health Agency.

** An Elev8 GovCon Honoree, noted for a corporate culture that demonstrates excellence, making the company a beacon for talent, for partners, and for clients.

We cannot and will not speculate here as to the reasons for the increased interest, but whether it is a company evaluating them as a potential partner; a federal acquisition leader doing their due diligence; or a consultant weighing their next job move, this group of companies has been receiving increased interest.
