DCG Bolsters Federal Position in Urban Emu Merger, Adding USDA Past Performance

OrangeSlices Take: This is a strategic pickup for DCG, adding capabilities and a significant base of federal past performance. Urban Emu brings a strong footprint across USDA, most notably with the Food and Nutrition Service, where it has supported strategic communications, marketing, consumer research, user engagement, and website support, along with past performance across other parts of USDA, VA, and DHS. DCG continues to bolster its position in the federal market, making this a group worth watching as it builds on that momentum.

The District Communications Group (DCG), a research, communications, and strategy firm, today announced it is merging with Urban Emu, an innovative digital and technical solutions agency - marking a significant step in DCG’s long-term growth strategy. The addition of Urban Emu accelerates DCG’s evolution into a tech-enabled strategic partner, blending advanced data analytics and proprietary AI-driven tools into its core offerings.

By integrating Urban Emu’s expertise in AI-development, application design, and technical problem-solving, this merger reinforces DCG’s position as a trusted partner to federal agencies and mission-driven organizations, while expanding its ability to support a broader range of clients. Moving forward, DCG’s clients will benefit from a more seamless combination of research, communications, and technology - enabling faster decision-making, improved targeting, and more efficient program execution.

“Client needs are evolving rapidly. Organizations are under increasing pressure to turn data into intelligence and deliver measurable results,” said Adam Clampitt, CEO of DCG. “Bringing Urban Emu into DCG allows us to better connect insight, strategy, and technology, helping our clients operate more effectively and achieve mission goals and objectives.”

As part of the merger, Urban Emu CEO Patrick Kesler will join DCG’s executive leadership team as Chief Technology Officer. Kesler will oversee DCG’s research and development efforts and lead the integration of customized AI solutions across the firm.

“Urban Emu has built a reputation for solving technical problems with creativity and precision,” said Kesler. “Our goal is to build digital tools that are bespoke and thoughtful, not tech for tech’s sake. Joining forces with DCG allows our technical expertise to be applied at a larger scale, helping each of our clients move from insights to action with more agility.”
