EMKS Names Major General (Ret) James Bonner as President and Chief Strategy Officer

EM Key Solutions (EMKS), a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), has named Major General (Ret) James Bonner as President and Chief Strategy Officer, effective April 7, 2025. In this role MG Bonner will lead all aspects of EMKS operations and growth strategies and will also serve as a special advisor to the CEO providing executive leadership in strategic planning and execution and stakeholder engagement.

MG Bonner retired from the U.S. Army in August 2024, bringing 36 years of distinguished military service to the EMKS team. His Army career included key leadership roles in the U.S. Army, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), and collaborations with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). His extensive experience spans global operations, strategic planning, and leadership of complex organizations addressing critical national security risks. MG Bonner will leverage his extensive experience to enhance EMKS’ current strategic initiatives supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense Health Agency (DHA) and expand its footprint in other health solutions and consulting domains, systems testing and independent verification and validation, and critical national security and defense domains, which currently includes vital work in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the FBI and DHS.

Throughout his career, MG Bonner has demonstrated exceptional leadership at every level, from platoon to two-star command. His ability to build cohesive teams and develop leaders of character has been evident in diverse organizations, including conventional forces, Airborne units, Rangers, FBI, FEMA, DHS, JSOC, and Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA). Bonner was personally selected by Assistant Director of Counterterrorism as the first CBRN officer assigned to the FBI Domestic Terrorism Division. He was also selected by the Commanding General as the first CBRN officer assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in the wake of the fall of the Soviet Union, focused on combatting WMD and terrorism both home and abroad. MG Bonner led and commanded soldiers in the Republic of Korea, and three combat deployments (Afghanistan and Panama), to include working with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). MG Bonner’s education includes a M.A., National Security and Strategic Studies from United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, a M.S., Administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and a B.S., Administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.
