Nava is thrilled to announce we’ve won a two-year, $15.6 million prime contract to work with Maryland to help build the state’s paid family and medical leave insurance program (FAMLI), which will launch in July 2026. We’ll support Maryland with human-centered design and agile development so they can deliver a best-in-class service for the state’s 2.5 million workers and 180,000 employers.
As a public benefit corporation, Nava is excited to embark on this mission-aligned work to provide the people of Maryland with a paid leave program that is flexible, future-proof, and human-centered. We’ll help Maryland build critical components for its FAMLI system, including work that supports workers, employers, and state agency staff.
“We’re honored Maryland selected Nava for this opportunity, which aligns with our expertise in delivering human-centered paid leave services,” said Nava Chief Delivery Officer Jodi Leo. “When we partnered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to build their paid family and medical leave program from the ground up, we established best practices and norms that will enable us to excel in our work with Maryland.”
In just over a year, we helped Massachusetts design, build, test, and launch a new PFML program that helps workers apply for and manage PFML benefits. Since its launch in 2021, the program has paid out more than $2.5 billion in benefits and supported nearly 350,000 unique claimants and their families.
