While rumors had been swirling for some time, the announcement late last week that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will no longer rely on GSA and that they have now decided to retain all phases of procurement, including pre- and post-award, provides some much-needed direction and timing for those Information Technology (IT) partners hoping to get a crack at securing a Prime role on the next generation of the high-profile Information Technology Supplies and Support Services BPA.
The scope for the new enterprise-wide ITSSS-2 BPA is expected to include a broad set of Information Technology and Communications services which will be competed at the task level, to include delivering and providing IT services and solutions to fulfill new and emerging Geospatial, Laboratory Informatics, Data Science, Forensics, Workplace Automation, Business Application, Infrastructure and Communications, Intelligent Automation and Enterprise Platform needs.
Aggressive Timeline
The FBI noted as part of its announcement that it will publish a revised schedule soon. In the meantime, prepare for an aggressive timeline as the agency has stated that it is aiming for a calendar year 2023 award with a final RFQ release mid-summer. Keep your eyes peeled as the FBI is expected to host some type of industry engagement event in late Spring 2023 through which they will share additional details. This will be a heavily attended event with registration filling quickly.
The next steps related to the long overdue competition for this BPA may still be in the early stages, but you can expect large and small companies alike to be jockeying heavily over the coming weeks and months as they try and influence the future direction of any competition.
