In posting the news James shared: Today is my last day as the CISO of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. I’ll talk more about where I’m headed on Tuesday, but today is for reflecting on my time at the Commission and the great people I worked with. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost six years (with a small break). I’m leaving with a deep sense of awe and gratitude for my colleagues inside the Commission and the excellent civil servants I worked with daily from other agencies. The federal government is filled with smart, energetic, hard-working people who consistently deliver their best despite the challenges. Thank you for all that you do. Tagging them all here would make this post far too long. Still, I’d be remiss if I didn’t call out Steven Hernandez, Michael Duffy, James Saunders, and Van Patrick Bevill for welcoming me as a new member of federal CISO team and my fellow FIRREA CISOs Zachary Brown, Ralph Mosios, Charles (Chip) Young, Naeem M., and Dr. Tiina K.O. Rodrigue, EdD – she/her for the excellent counsel. The InfoSec program is in the skillful hands of Jason Tant, Matthew Toscano, and Maddox Mishou. I’ve certainly left out many people I’ve counted on for support and advice; my apologies. I was fortunate to witness and participate in a master class in digital transformation at this agency, led by David Bottom, and empowered and driven forward by a truly excellent group of federal employees and contractors. I’m grateful to have played my part in delivering that value to the Commission and US taxpayers. The decision to leave was difficult, but I’m optimistic and excited about what comes next.
