The Department of Veterans Affairs Revenue Operations Consolidated Patient Account Center [CPAC] intends to host an Industry Day on Tuesday, 5/21/2024. The purpose of Industry Day is to allow interested businesses to exchange their capabilities in healthcare revenue cycle management services and technologies.

Areas of interest include patient accounts management [i.e., account follow-up, denials management, payment validation] and revenue cycle processes such as obtaining pre-certification/authorization from commercial health insurance and automation of scanning/importing medical records.

The VA is interested in leveraging the use of AI, machine learning and/or robotic process automation to improve business processes, maximize billing output, generating responses to medical necessity denials, increase collections and/or reduce denial rates.

The VA is interested in the integration of bolt-on applications to the Oracle/Cerner Millennium electronic health record [EHR], targeted at performing key revenue cycle functions, such as managing a national Chargemaster with geographically adjusted prices for each VA location, computer-assisted coding [CAC], revenue integrity, insurance eligibility verification, and analytics.

The VA is also interested in pursuing bolt-on functionality related to Medicaid eligibility screening, patient outreach, and patient liability services.

Lastly, the VA is interested in solutions to link and interface community care referrals, authorization, payment systems and technology to back-end revenue billing systems/software. Capabilities in providing the above functionality, as well as the adoption of emergent/innovative revenue cycle technologies should be demonstrated.
