The scope of this contract is to provide sustainment, modernization and enhancement (SME) services for each of the three specific areas listed in Section 3. – Specific Requirements/Tasks. SME comprises the steady-state corrective maintenance, changes or modifications to existing systems to improve capability or performance, and changes mandated by department or agency leadership. SME may also include development of future systems, consolidation of systems, integration of systems for improved data sharing, and/or the expansion of the existing systems to support other NWS, NOAA, or DOC programs.
The Contractor shall provide skilled, experienced technical support staff and manage and support them as needed to remain highly effective and productive members of the Southern Region Systems Operations Division. In addition, the contractor shall develop and maintain detailed project schedules and milestones for performing tasks in a collaborative environment. The contractor shall communicate task status, milestones, and schedule changes promptly and produce monthly status reports highlighting task completion schedules, milestones, work schedule variations (if any), and work product deliveries.

Wide Area Network (WAN) Services
WAN services include the provisioning, monitoring and management of networks that interconnect two or more separate facilities that span a geographic area larger than a campus or metropolitan area. Transmission facilities include, but are not limited to, dedicated Internet connections, Internet‐based Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) connections. Database/Application Programming and System Administration
Database Programming
- Provides expert knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) programming language with the ability to write complex queries and optimize SQL code. Proficient in various database platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
- Creates, maintains, and designs NWS Southern Region production data and database management system (DBMS) based products including SQL coding, planning and documenting the system.
- Creates scripts and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for data integration, maintenance or bug fixes.
