To obtain contractor services to develop a 5G/6G core network testbed, evaluate communication technologies for automated vehicles (AV) and industrial applications, and assess of the potential benefits that Named Data Networking (NDN) can bring to the AV and 6G use cases.

General Requirements. The Contractor shall develop a 5G/6G core network testbed, assess the potential benefits that future internet architectures like NDN may bring to vehicular networking and 5G/6G core networking, and identify potential standards gaps and corresponding enhancements. The Contractor shall also develop and benchmark new capabilities for high performance NDN forwarding and traffic analysis. Moreover, the contractor shall support the evaluation of communication technologies for diverse applications as well as the interconnection of our 5G/6G core network testbed with other partners testbeds. The Contractor shall provide all support for project oversight, administration, and technical execution of this contract.  The Contractor is responsible for maintaining accurate records of project activities.

Tasks:

• 5G testbed development -A 5G/6G core network testbed (OpenCoreNet) built with opensource software.
• NDN traffic data – A collection of high-quality NDN network traffic measurements
• Disk-to-disk file transfer application – Development of an enhanced version of a disk-to-disk file transfer application and corresponding performance visualization.
• FABRIC testbed benchmarking – Run performance benchmarking scenarios on the FABRIC testbed and present corresponding results.
• Assessment of applications over the 5G testbed – Deployment and performance evaluation of applications over the testbed.
• Working testbed interconnections – Connection of the testbed to physical gNB/UE and its interconnection with other testbeds.
• NDN deployment in 5G core networking – A design study and a corresponding deployment of NDN in a 5G core network.
• Standards and opensource contributions – Identification of standards gaps and corresponding potential solutions.

One (1) Base Period 12-months period from the Date of Award, with one (1) 12-months Option Period.
