The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) remains one of the more competitive environments for Government Contractors, so any time an IT contract with a potential total contract value of $50+M comes up for recompete, it will draw a lot of interest, with dozens of Primes and subcontractors throwing their lines in the water. To help you better make some decisions about whether to spend your time, or look elsewhere, provided below is a snapshot detailing the scope of the contract, the current contract status, and some of the potential Prime and subcontractor options that you may want to target as a potential partner for this important FY 2022 contract.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Open Payments System Support Services (OPS) Overview
Last awarded in 2017 to CGI Federal, the recompete for this important contract which helps fulfill Section 6002 of the Affordable Care Act by allowing citizens to gain insight into financial transactions between providers and pharmaceutical, biologic and medical device manufacturers, is tentatively scheduled for the Spring of 2022.
One of the ways that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provides data to the public is through this search tool, which allows the public to search for physicians and teaching hospitals receiving payments, as well as companies that have made payments. Read More about the Open Payments Program Here. There you can get an overview of the data that is collected and displayed and learn more about what is included in the data.
This contract was initially valued at $33M with a 4 ½ year period of performance. Fast forward 4 years and the funds obligated to date are nearly $50 Million and the contract end date is now scheduled for the end of fiscal year 2022.
Where/How is this likely to be competed?
In 2017, this contract was competed on the NITAAC CIO-SP3 GWAC, drawing a total of 4 bidders. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the named Contracting Official for this effort, Tonya Anderson, have not identified which contract vehicle this will be released on yet, but it is expected to remain unrestricted. CGI Federal has Prime access to all of the major contracting vehicles that CMS typically uses for this type of work, as do most of the other potential Prime competitors.
