The HSI Forensic laboratory is in the process of redesigning its current library catalog system, which was designed in the late 1990s. The contractor shall provide development of a fully operating electronic library catalog system that will store high resolution imagery and data of all physical documents housed in the laboratory, expand system access to agency partners, provide real-time response capabilities to field investigators, and ensure continuity of operations in crisis situations, such as a pandemic. Throughout the development process, the HSI Forensic Laboratory has identified several capabilities which are required to enhance the effectiveness of the initial operating IDEAL 2.0 system, including an increase in automated tasks and searches. These additional developments will supplement the current capabilities and improve specific mobile functionality, deployment to a larger government audience, and training capabilities required by the laboratory.
