The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) is seeking to do a two-year data analysis service with a statistician for the Veterans Affairs (VA) funded studies. The service consists of continuation of data analysis for the study and shall provide these services in support of a primary investigator (PI) with the R&D Department, at the SFVAMC. SFVAMC provides healthcare services for Veteran population in the local area. One of the charges of the VA is to promote research and development dedicated to improving the health and lives of Veterans.
Scope of Work/Tasks:
- Setting up databases using electronic health record data. Given that we have multiple current projects as well as future projects that will involve merging multiple data sources from electronic health records, one of the key deliverables will be setting up databases for several papers as well as analyses that will be used for future grant applications. Setting up this database will include merging data from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) with TIU data (notes from the clinical records).
- Producing statistical manuscript deliverables. Based on creation of databases described above, analyses will be conducted, and analyses and result sections of manuscripts will be written up as a deliverables. This includes creating manuscript ready tables and figures.
- Using existing algorithms to populate spreadsheets. The contractor will populate spreadsheets containing data on various mental health conditions including eating disorders. One of the deliverables will be a spreadsheet of Veterans that are at risk of eating disorders based on their responses to a survey. An existing algorithm will be used to identify these Veterans, who will be contacted to participate in a clinical interview to verify their diagnosis. These data will be used to produce scientific papers and subsequent grant applications.
- Assisting with securing future grant funding. These deliverables will be used to apply for subsequent grant funding in the areas of racial disparities, PTSD treatment, and eating disorders. Deliverables will include development of method plans, data analysis, and power analyses to ensure adequate sample sizes for proposed projects.
