USAID Pre-Solicitation: STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity

Notice ID: 7200AA24R00016

The United States Government, represented by the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) to Global Health, Office of Infectious Disease, Emerging Threats Division (GH/ID/ETD), intends to release a solicitation for STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity (hereinafter called STRIDES Activity),

The purpose of the STRIDES Activity is to strengthen the capacity of host country diagnostic networks and surveillance systems to improve the detection and response to diseases of public health importance while adhering to biosafety and biosecurity standards. There are four (4) pillars envisioned for the Activity as noted in the results framework: (1) detection strengthening; (2) surveillance systems, including AMR; (3) data analysis and management systems; and (4) emergency response. Within these pillars the Activity will promote quality management systems with attention to US biosafety and biosecurity policies. This Activity will accelerate and refine efforts to improve the host country capacity and readiness to detect and respond to disease priorities and future pandemics, using a OneHealth approach.  STRIDES will also engage with other health elements that may have specific unmet detection and surveillance overlapping needs, such as malaria, tuberculosis or maternal and child health. Cross cutting activities may include sustainability planning, expanded geographic focus to reach sub-national and community levels, gender, regulatory or policy support, innovation, and localization where appropriate.
