Senior CMS Medicare Drug Benefit and C&D Data Group (MDBG) Exec exits, launches consulting firm

Having worked on the Medicare program for over 20 years, most recently as the Senior Executive leader of MDBG, this CMS subject matter expert and senior leader has launched a strategic consultancy.

Amy Larrick is now the President of Larrick Consulting, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in strategic advisory services, focused on helping health care businesses respond to public policy challenges and opportunities. Amy has been a subject matter expert and senior leader for the past two decades at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Amy most recently served as the Senior Executive leader of the Medicare Drug Benefit and C&D Data Group (MDBG) in CMS from 2014-2023. At the time, MDBG was one of the largest groups in CMS, allotted over 100 FTEs supported by more than 650 contractor employees, with an annual budget of nearly $100 million. Amy led a team responsible for ensuring appropriate access to medications for the over 49 million beneficiaries enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Drug (Part D) plan – ensuring access to over 1.5 billion prescriptions worth approximately $200 billion per year. Amy also led the Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D Star Ratings programs, a quality measurement system for health and drug plans that provides a rating system for the over 60 million people with Medicare to use when choosing an MA or Part D plan, and also determines quality bonus payments to MA plans, which total over $11 billion annually.
