NOAA taps Kathryn Shontz as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Strategy

Armed with perspective gained supporting NOAA for nearly a decade, Kathryn Shontz is now listed as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Strategy. Previously she served as Advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary of Operations on enterprise IT, specifically cloud, data migration, and high performance computing, and prior to that as the Deputy and Acting Director of the NESDIS Office of Common Services, responsible for development of an enterprise cloud solution, organizational migration to the cloud, satellite antenna systems and satellite product portfolio management. She led enterprise NESDIS IT strategy and budget development, executing over $100M of annual dollars. Kathryn is leading the office reorganization and is responsible for increasing federal hiring over 1000% in a year. She serves as the Deputy Director beyond her current acting role.
