HUD Selects IEM for Community Compass Program Services

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently awarded IEM International, Inc. (IEM), a national leader in housing, community resilience, and disaster recovery, a contract to provide services in its Community Compass Technical Assistance (TA) and Capacity Building Program.

As one of the few Community Compass TA providers across the country, IEM leverages a decade of experience in this program, dating back to 2015. As a Program Service Provider, IEM will work directly with grantees to improve their knowledge, skills, and tools so that they can successfully implement compliant HUD programs and policies that meet their community needs.

Since 2016, IEM has proudly been selected through nine competitive awards to continue delivering critical Implementation Support Services for grantees of the Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) and its Office of Disaster Recovery (ODR), and the Office of Public Housing (PIH).

“It has been a rewarding experience to lead Community Compass efforts at IEM. I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative outcomes our implementation support brings to HUD grantee staff and agencies,” said Debra Smith, PhD, IEM’s Director of Affordable Housing and HUD Technical Assistance Services. “It has been a privilege to oversee a team of dedicated project management professionals who have made a positive impact on how agencies achieve their goals and create lasting community change.”

To date, IEM has completed 19 projects, including the development of disaster-related toolkits, trainings, workshops, and webinars for public housing authorities and the provision of grantee-specific TA and training in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Oregon, Kansas, Ohio, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, and New Mexico.

“We help close the gap between theory and practice, knitting together on-the-ground practical knowledge and compliance with federal regulations, goals, requirements, and guidance,” said Bryan Koon, IEM President and CEO. “IEM is proud and honored to receive this award from HUD, recognizing the past decade of exceptional support we have already provided. We look forward to continuing to guide impactful community housing and recovery projects.”
