Shane McNamee shared:

Returning to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a health solution architect (aka physician informaticist) feels like coming home.  My journey began as a medical intern at the Cleveland VAMC in 2002, and over the years, I’ve been deeply involved in shaping the art of the possible for Veteran’s healthcare journeys my work to lead beneficial workflow automation and other quality solutions.  I’m excited to again contribute to the ongoing transformation of VA healthcare under our leadership in the Digital Health Office.  My experience in both the public and private sectors has equipped me with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing our healthcare system. I’m particularly passionate about using open standards platforms to balance the clinical need, technology solutions and business outcomes to create highly usable, reliable solutions.  I learned this along the way while during my 8-year trip through the #product & #systemintegrator industries:  We can fix the perfect storm striking US healthcare today using the technology solutions, business models & policies on hand.  By luck, the wind is at our back at this particular moment in history.  I’m grateful for the opportunity to again work with the mission-committed, talented teams across the VA. I look forward to contributing to a future where care is delivered seamlessly, efficiently, and equitably for Veterans everywhere.  Please join me at Health Level Seven International, VA and other connectathon events if you are interested in laying out scalable care traffic control architectures for healthcare’s myriad uses.
