The Department of the Air Force awarded a Services Category 1 indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for Enterprise Information Technology as a Service Base Infrastructure Modernization August 16.
The U.S. Air Force awarded the BIM IDIQ to 25 companies with a $12.5 billion ceiling, as the result of a competitive acquisition.
EITaaS is an Air and Space Force initiative leveraging industry best practices to provide a standardized, innovative and agile information technology service across the Department of the Air Force.
BIM modernizes the existing Department of the Air Force Base Area Networks to an as-a-Service model.
According to program officials, benefits of BIM include providing continued interoperability with joint network systems, increased access to critical data for high-bandwidth use cases, and support for connections to mission-unique applications, tools and systems.
“This award is a major milestone in delivering continuous network modernization to the Department of the Air Force network rather than periodic refreshes,” said Col. Fred Garcia, upper-senior materiel leader, Enterprise IT & Cyber Infrastructure Division, Cyber & Networks Directorate. “BIM creates ongoing relationships between bases, the BIM program office, and vendors to collaboratively deliver networks supporting and driving DAF capabilities.”
BIM provides Demand Management, a data-driven methodology to better deploy enterprise IT services according to user community assessment and measured facility demand.
“This is a smart investment of services enabling the use of commercial connectivity,” said Wayne Anderson, Base Area Networks program manager. “BIM integrates holistic industry best practices into DAF Enterprise IT Acquisitions, driving alignment of IT spend to facilities planning on square footage basis, and right sizing the DAF network services by standardizing the delivery approach for the enterprise.”
The companies awarded in the IDIQ include ActionNet Inc., Agile Decision Science LLC, Agile Government LLC, AT&T Corp., Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI Inc. – Federal, CDO Technologies Inc., DecisiveInstincts LLC, EPS Corp., General Dynamics Information Technology Inc., GZO Inc., KriaaNet Inc., Leidos Inc., Lumen Technologies Government Solutions Inc., M.C. Dean Inc., Open San Consulting LLC, Q-Tech LLC, SMS Data Products Group Inc., Sumaria Systems LLC, Technica Corp., TekSynap Corp., Telos Corp., TM3 Solutions, Trace Systems Inc., and Tundra Federal LLC.
The program features a small business subcontracting goal awarding 34% of the total contract value to small business IDIQ holders. Garcia believes the inclusion of these companies demonstrates the division’s commitment to supporting small business.
Work will be performed worldwide based on individual task order requirements.
