US Digital Services names Anne Marshall to lead Data Science and Engineering

Exciting News from the United States Digital Service (USDS)! 🌟

Please join me in congratulating Anne Marshall on her new role as Director of Data Science and Engineering!

Anne joined USDS in September 2023 as a Digital Service Expert, and since then her impact has been extraordinary. Since Anne joined, she has consistently been a force for good on every team she has interacted with – both for her wisdom and for getting things done.

Anne stands out for her exceptional combination of technical expertise and genuine care for people. As a former Principal Software Engineer at Amazon, with Master’s degrees in both computer science and data science, she embodies deep technical leadership that never stops learning.

In addition to her deep technical leadership, I had the privilege of witnessing her incredible talent for recognizing the strengths in every team member, remembering even the smallest details (does anyone have a pet whose name she doesnt know?), and fostering connections that help teams thrive. The rare combination of her deep technical leadership, empathy, attention to detail, and genuine care for her colleagues makes her the ideal leader for guiding the USDS Data Science and Engineering community toward continued success.

Though a fellow Seattleite (just like this outgoing director 👋), Anne will soon be spending more of her time in Washington, DC, to lead this incredible team (congrats on the new home in DC!). I can’t wait to see the positive energy and innovative vision she’ll bring to this new chapter of USDS’s Data Science and Engineering community.

Congratulations, Anne—we can’t wait to see all you’ll accomplish in this role! 🎉
