VA Chief Technology Officer adds CAIO role

After adjusting his LinkedIn profile to show his role as CTO ended in May (which our bots flagged), OrangeSlices has learned (from Charles) about his next steps. No, he will NOT be leaving the agency (whew!), but will rather be taking on a new expanded role with the agency as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO), while also maintaining his current CTO role.

Charles is currently working to modernize digital products at the VA. Previously, Charles helped build the United States Digital Service, a team of world-class developers, designers and product experts working in government with the goal of transforming the government’s most important services. Charles served as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Chief Technology Officer at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he helped lay the groundwork for the creation of the U.S. Digital Service.
