USGS RFQ: Scientific Software System Design, Development, Implementation, Maintenance and Operation

The contractor shall provide services for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and operation of several ANSS real-time product related processing systems, primarily the DYFI system. The work shall involve system technological upgrades, independent design and implementation of new subsystems, modification to existing codes, and earthquake response operations. Routine testing prior to operation, and continued calibration based on operational knowledge gained will be used to improve responsiveness of the systems to customer needs and USGS objectives. As the DYFI data are widely used for scientific analyses, the data must be made accessible via state-of-the art protocols, yet the contractor must interact with and accommodate specialized requests via database queries.

Outcomes include:

  • Programming of scientific algorithms and modifications to existing scientific modules that compute macroseismic intensity, their uncertainties, and related data and web products.
  • DYFI software development to include:
    • Implementation and maintenance of DYFI system in the USGS cloud environment, consistent with EP cloud strategies,
    • continue ensuring robustness, speed, & redundancy with software and hardware improvements, including acquisition, triggering, and web delivery…
