BACKGROUND
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), signed by Congress on August 16, 2022, mandates the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to improve the taxpayer experience and compliance. The IRA initiative gave the IRS a historic opportunity to transform tax administration and services provided to taxpayers and tax professionals. The funding provided by IRA will improve how IRS serves the public and tax professionals. The long-term funding will enable IRS to update technology capabilities and invest in our employees with new tools, skills, and capabilities. This program initiative allowed the IRS to hire new employees to ensure the IRS’ success. The User and Network Services (UNS)/Enterprise Field Operations (EFO) office provides Deskside Services support to all IRS employees nationwide. Specialized contractor support is needed to support this IRA drive to hire more staff and get them onboarded in a timely fashion.
