Sikich, a Chicago-based leading global technology-enabled professional services company, today announced that Beryl (Berri) H. Davis joined as a director in its federal service line, following her retirement from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) where she served as managing director of Financial Management and Assurance.
Davis brings more than 30 years of expertise in navigating complex government auditing and financial management, and she will play a key role in driving the company’s federal financial statement and performance audit engagements. During her distinguished career at GAO, Davis oversaw financial and performance audits across a wide range of critical areas, including the financial audit of the Fiscal Service’s Schedules of the General Fund, and performance audits addressing improper payments, grants management, inspectors general, healthcare financial management and state and local financial oversight.
“Berri’s deep understanding of government financial management is unmatched, and her expertise will help us meet the evolving accountability challenges facing federal agencies today,” said Steve Koons, principal, federal government service line leader, Sikich. “Her insights will drive innovation in our federal audit practice and deepen our involvement in national conversations around government financial oversight.”
At Sikich, Davis will leverage her expertise to help ensure clients continue to benefit from best practices. She will also represent Sikich on technical planning committees for national conferences related to government financial management, where she will contribute to shaping industry discussion. Davis also will provide leadership in developing internal and external training sessions, including panel discussions at key industry forums, driving knowledge-sharing and engagement across the field.
Before joining GAO in 2011, Davis served as vice president of Standards and Guidance at the Institute of Internal Auditors, where she helped shape best practices in auditing. This combination of public and private sector experience positions her to offer strategic guidance across federal engagements, providing a well-rounded perspective on both government operations and industry standards.
