PR: Rainmakers Wins CMS MDS and RAI Contract

Rainmakers Strategic Solutions, LLC (Rainmakers), a healthcare strategy and consulting firm, is thrilled to continue its successful partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Rainmakers has been awarded the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User’s Manual Support and Maintenance contract. This contract helps CMS with achieving its national quality goals and to be a resilient, high-value health care system that promotes quality outcomes, safety, equity, and accessibility for all individuals.

Through this award, Rainmakers will support CMS in maintaining and updating the MDS/RAI. The MDS forms the foundation of a comprehensive assessment for all residents of nursing homes certified to participate in Medicare or Medicaid. As part of implementing the RAI, nursing home staff use these forms to complete assessments on the residents. This comprehensive assessment will allow CMS to monitor and measure the skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) participating in Medicare or Medicaid. The data collected from residents in a facility is aggregated to produce indicators of the quality of care provided.

“Rainmakers is passionate about partnering with CMS and other agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to promote high-quality, safe, equitable, and accessible care for all. We are energized to partner with CMS to maintain and update the MDS/RAI to produce indicators of quality care. We understand that the reliability and validity of these quality measures is of fundamental importance to current and potential residents of long-term care facilities, healthcare providers, as well as policymakers.”
