LMI to Support Veteran Suicide Prevention with New VA Contract

LMI has been selected to provide suicide prevention program support for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP). This contract, with a ceiling value of $19.6M, will advance research program evaluation and enhance the clinical decision-making framework for Veteran suicide prevention efforts.

Veteran suicide prevention is a top clinical priority for VA. Under the new contract, LMI will propel VA forward in its comprehensive public health approach and in raising awareness that suicide prevention is a collective responsibility.

Through this contract, LMI will support OMH OSP’s mission in various ways:

  • Collaborate across agencies to identify the highest priority research areas and help OMH OSP set national research agendas for suicide prevention accordingly
  • Develop measures to assess the processes and effectiveness of suicide prevention programming while conducting program evaluation studies of OSP-supported interventions
  • Maintain the functions of the Program Evaluation and Resource Center (PERC) dashboards and databases OMH OSP uses for clinical and management decision-making and incorporate Oracle Health Millennium electronic health record data into these tools.

“Our mission is aligned with VA’s resolute commitment to suicide prevention and improvement in mental health services available for our Veterans,” said Zaki Saleh, senior vice president of LMI’s health and civilian market. “We are privileged to support VA in advancing their suicide prevention programs, refining risk identification, and improving the effectiveness of their clinical decision frameworks.”

Suicide-related data collection, analysis, and dissemination are important for deepening VA’s understanding of Veteran suicide and shaping effective prevention strategies. LMI will combine its data analytics expertise with human-systems integration (HSI) principles to empower VA in making data-driven decisions that understand and respond to the Veteran experience.

“LMI is honored to continue its unwavering commitment to the military and Veteran community through this agreement,” said Christine Cocrane, senior vice president, management and transformation solutions. “Whether it’s modernizing the Veterans Crisis Line, employing Veterans, participating in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes program, or supporting our military customers, LMI is dedicated to fostering a culture that honors and serves those who have served us.”
