It is always interesting when growing teams add new talent. On the heels of 8(a) SDVOSB RP Pro Services adding industry veteran Tamar Mintz as its new Executive Vice President for Growth and Delivery, we took the chance to connect to find out more about her new role with RP Pro, and the company’s focus on relationships, ensuring value add, championing each other, and setting limits for the greater good.

Diverse Background

Beginning from a sales account management role, Tamar grew in her knowledge and experience within the industry, taking on responsibilities around operations and, as with any small business, wearing many hats.

Looking to take on a new challenge, Tamar was drawn to RP Pro, its commitment to following through on what it promises, and an inherent trust and transparency within the organization. “RP Pro’s motto is “People, Not Just Resources” and that applies not only to the way it views its team, but also to the work it takes on, the missions of the clients we support. Internally we are only as good as the team we have supporting us. That is the backbone of our delivery and our growth.”

Building Relationships

Through its work supporting the SBA, RP Pro directly supports other small businesses in what they are trying to achieve, supporting efforts including small business loan systems. Having supported SBA over the past five years, these relationships and commitments are key for Tamar. “Looking ahead DHS and HHS will be our focus over the coming years, evolving and strengthening and building on those existing relationships.”

Tamar says one of her goals is building relationships based on open communication. “We will always do our best and we will always go above and beyond to support our partners and clients. That being said, sometimes things happen. Acknowledging whatever that may be, communicating to work through any challenges, we will always work to get our clients and partners what they need based on the best advice and guidance we can offer.”

Noting that sometimes the best advice may come from someone outside of its own team, RP Pro understands sometimes they are the experts, and will bring in outside SMEs when they are not. “When we look for those partners we seek those with the same ethos, those interested in bringing innovation when they can, and being ok with saying no when we they cannot.”

Tamar points to multiple partnerships RP Pro has developed with like-minded digital organizations focused on being value adds for their government clients.

Available, within Limits, for the Greater Good

Saying she loves a good cold call, Tamar says she looks forward to people reaching out to connect with her through LinkedIn, email, text or phone call. Setting plans in place for upcoming events, she also hopes to be attending in person as makes sense, and being available for virtual engagements to meet others where they are. “I know many people are not comfortable being out in busy public places, and internally and with our external partners and customers, we are very aware of that and try to accommodate.”

While she works to be accessible and available, Tamar is also setting limits for herself, and limits she will reflect back to her team. “Working from home during COVID it was hard for people to set limits, to manage schedules and workdays because it was always just right there. I hope to communicate to my team, and through example, that they can work an eight-hour day and still get their jobs done; that some things can wait for another day.”

Championing One Another

Just as Tamar intends to support her team through modelling, RP Pro leans on a model of everyone on the team championing each other, of joining together to roll up their sleeves whether it be onsite or back office teams. “There are two books – Start with WHY and Leaders Eat Last, both by Simon Sinek. The whole concept is that when your organization knows why you’re doing it and why they embody that, there is a different feel and everyone from their own view adds value.”

Knowing their why ensures the RP Pro team knows what they need to deliver and why and that delivery means different things to different parts of the organization. “But everyone embodies that to allow us to cohesively work together.”

Continuing to Add Value

Knowing that it is one thing to win work, another to re-win work, RP Pro is focused on continuing to determine its value add. “This market is very competitive and anyone who says otherwise is perhaps not being honest with themselves. It’s a constant shift and reposition and the tone we set, the example we set, is what we model for our peers, partners, to our clients and our families. This is where modeling what we preach, holding ourselves accountable to that is key.”
