Growth and forward movement can be signaled by many cues. The announcement that it would be creating 300+ new jobs; the success of its rapid innovation-focused Edge Lab; key hires and people moves; the addition of a SBIR Phase 1 contract focused on DX Engage – AI Powered Intelligent Digitization; and the news that its Intelligent Digitization and Enterprise Content Management Platform has achieved “Awardable” status through the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s (CDAO) Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace are just a few of the recent triggers that caught our attention. Here we speak with DOMA Technologies President and Founder Pat Feliciano and Chief Growth Officer Nick Marchand to learn more.

Focused on Changing Lives

DOMA was founded with a single purpose in mind: change people’s lives. This means changing lives within the organization, creating opportunities for employees to believe in and realize their potential, and extending this impact through their customers and through other engagements with the broader community.

Bridging the gap between data and decisions, DOMA makes unstructured data useful for their customers, with focused efforts in the healthcare, Veteran’s services, and other civilian and defense markets. DOMA focuses on breaking down challenges agencies face, often related to data access and use, by addressing underlying foundational problems.

Advisor and Partner

Recognizing foundational similarities in challenges agencies face in accessing data and how they want and need to use it, part of DOMA’s role is educating and informing. “There is a bit of discovery in the art of what is possible, helping them understand what they have and the outcomes that could be derived. It’s like the old Henry Ford story that says, ‘If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse.’”

Behavior Driving Action

DOMA was founded to be a company that behaves like the company it wants to become. The team believes in the term “1 + 1 = 11,” meaning their people and technology are force multipliers. “We should always be innovating.” Indeed, DOMA’s first core value is “Fearless Innovation.”

From its 70,000 sq ft facility in Virginia Beach, DOMA supports innovation efforts in the federal, SLED, and commercial space, working with an extensive network of partners to build new rapid prototypes or proof of concepts. “We love to take on unstructured data challenges. Our facility allows for large-scale data ingestion, enabling customers to access information they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. This capability sets us apart.”

The ability to demonstrate possibilities, including AI interactions, creates greater trust and better opportunities for adoption. “Most organizations have more data than they can adequately leverage, and they lack better ways to interact with and consume it.”

One example is a project with VA focused on medical records to support disability claims using an advanced AI-based digital intake approach. “The pilots that we have going on can take and autonomously ingest both physical and digital medical records and associated documentation, metadata tag or extract key information like presumptive conditions, auto classify the type of source documentation, auto redact PII, and then provide a way for that reviewer to digitally consume and interact with that record so that they can quickly understand what they have.”

“We’re taking 40 to 50,000 records a month and being able to process a 500 page record and make it digitally accessible in minutes, with a more than 95% accuracy rate. We’re talking about cutting processing time by 80% of what it was.”

Beyond specific client success, DOMA makes data discoverable and accessible for an infinite number of potential consumers.

Measurable Growth and Culture

Building on its momentum over the past several years, DOMA is expanding its capabilities and growth teams, investing and staffing up for continued movement. “We’re focused on making sure we are solving a need that is impactful, that we have the right solutions aligned to that, and that we have a constant pipeline of challenges we can address. We are beyond excited to see a continued accelerated growth track ahead.”

Anticipating doubling in size, DOMA remains true to its culture and aspirations. “We’re comfortable with who we are and what we represent. This clarity helps in conversations with clients and partners. We’re here to listen, help, and solve what they’re trying to do.”

Casting its vision for the future, DOMA is clear in its intent and follows up with action. “Transparency and authenticity flow through everything we do. Our long-term projects require people to stay and be part of the conversation from day one to completion.”

For VA projects, this means making a tangible impact for Veterans by focusing on measurable differences, not automation for automation’s sake or AI buzzwords. Innovation with purpose.

Partnering

While aiming for continued growth, DOMA focuses on areas where it can serve and provide meaningful value. “We evaluate partnerships and opportunities based on what’s best for the customer. We can work as a Prime or sub, as a tech partner or facility partner.”

“DOMA is not just a digitization company. We are a partner in data-centric innovation, evolving creative ways to make information accessible for meaningful decision-making.”
