DOD OCIO establishes Cyber Academic Engagement Office (CAEO) to be led by Mark Gorak

In accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Department of Defense Office of the Chief Information Officer (DoD OCIO) has established the Cyber Academic Engagement Office (CAEO) to serve as the consolidated focal point for cyber-related engagements carried out between the DoD and academia. Mr. Mark Gorak, who currently serves as the Principal Director for Resources and Analysis, will dual-hat and assume responsibilities as Director of the CAEO effective immediately. This decision was made at the discretion and direction of the Honorable Mr. John Sherman, DoD Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO).   Among other duties, as Director, Mr. Gorak will coordinate and fund covered academic engagement programs for the DoD, conduct ongoing analysis of the performance of cyber-related educational efforts, and establish requirements, policies, and procedures to collect data on, and to monitor and evaluate, the performance of covered academic engagement programs with respect to the involvement in such programs by the DoD.  Mr. Gorak remains committed to the DoD’s overarching mission of Force readiness and sees this new position as a meaningful next step in the process of fortifying the nation’s cyber posture for current and future generations.
