The Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) requires IT Professional Support to migrate four mainframe systems to a Linux platform hosted in the DISA Linux Virtual or Linux On Premise environment.
This requirement is established in order to “lift and shift” four systems from a Unisys OS2200 mainframe platform running COBOL 74 to an alternate Linux platform hosted in the DISA Linux Virtual or Linux On Premise environment running COBOL 74. The requirement includes data migration to a relational database for each of the four systems.
The General Accounting & Finance System Base Level (GAFS-BL) accumulates the most accurate financial summary of an organization’s yearly authorization, budget, and expenditures to date for the Air Force. GAFS – BL is the final accumulator of all financial transactions from all subsidiary systems. Records maintained by GAFS-BL include funding authority, commitments, direct and reimbursable obligations, and balance of available, expired, and closed funds. System input is performed through on-line entry or through batch process during periodic systems interfaces with subsidiary systems.
