A-TEK awarded 5-year Contract to Support NIH National Library of Medicine

A-TEK, Inc. was recently awarded a 5-year, $100M contract to provide system administration and management support for biomedical and bibliographic information resources to the NIH National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

NLM is the world’s largest biomedical library, that maintains and makes available a vast print collection and produces electronic information resources on a wide range of medical and biological research topics that are searched billions of times each year by millions of people around the globe. It also supports and conducts research, development, and training in biomedical informatics, computational biology, and health information technology. NCBI was established in 1988 and charged with the responsibility to design, develop, implement and manage automated systems for the collection, storage, retrieval, analysis and dissemination of information about molecular biology and genetics; (b) to perform research into advanced methods of computer-based information processing for analyzing the structure and function of biologically important molecules; and (c) to coordinate the gathering of biomolecular information both nationally and internationally.

“A-TEK has provided support to NCBI for over 13 years, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue that support for another 5 years as we partner with NCBI to build and provide public access to databases and search services that are vital to the medical and molecular biology communities, and to the general public,” stated Kathryn Freeland, President and CEO.
