When we designed and launched the first iteration of the new OrangeSlices AI GovCon IT & Consulting directory in the Spring of 2022, we had two primary users who were top of mind. The first was growth minded executives (in business development, capture, proposal, Chief Growth Officers, small business CEOs, business unit leads, etc.). The second group we built the tool for is the Government Executive (acquisition/contracting, program, small business leader, etc …) charged with understanding the makeup of the IT & Consulting community that serves them today.
The Surprise Twist
A big surprise for the OS AI team has been the feedback we have had, and the searches we have seen, from those seeking next steps in their careers.
In retrospect, this should have been an obvious persona to expect for a few reasons. If you have spent the past decade or more supporting a specific agency and you have developed specific domain expertise in that space and you are contemplating a job change, it is only logical to target companies that support your client or agency today. What we are hearing is equally important is the culture component, most easily identified when companies are walking the walk, talking the talk and #doingitright in a recognizable way.
The Shift – Shining a light on those companies doing it the right way
While the focus for OrangeSlices will continue to be on serving Government and Industry leaders looking for partners, it is worth noting that OS AI made a strategic decision late last year to actively design and build in features that support the job seeker. Two primary facets that have been added in the last 60 days include 1) a facet that allows users to pare back their search to include the 50 Elev8GovCon Honorees who were recognized for their commitment and focus on being a good partner and on being exceptional employers and 2) star ratings that allow users to view companies who have received 5-star reviews from customers, employees and partners.
The Elev8 distinction award and the reviews are just a few of the data points that any leader will consider when applying for a career change. By shining a light on those companies who are walking the walk, those whose employee and partner reviews provide evidence of their positive cultures, we hope to help those within industry and government find good partners, good employers, and good vendors.
Companies who Care
If you are a company that is focused on attracting good people, on ensuring potential partners and clients understand and are aligned with your culture, there are a few simple things you can do:
- Claim your listing on the OS AI site and make sure to adjust your About Us language to include culture components
- Ask your employees and partners to leave comments on our listing (Note that we will not approve negative comments since our focus is on shining a light on those doing things right)
- Tag us on LinkedIn when your team is involved in giving back so we can share with others in the community
