Friends From The City has been awarded a prime contract with the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DOIT), Maryland Digital Service (MDDS), to lead state applicant user experience research on the state’s licensing and permitting application systems.
Maryland, one of the most diverse states in the country, is home to over 6 million residents and nearly 250,000 businesses. Every day, Marylanders navigate state systems to apply for licenses and permits, yet most of these experiences were designed without their input.
We’re partnering with MDDS to explore ways to make the licensing and permitting experience more consistent, straightforward, and intuitive.
Our work supports MDDS’s mission to bring human-centered, accessible service delivery to every Marylander and demonstrate what’s possible when you start with real people.
