Nava wins work helping Minnesota build their Paid Leave program

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve received a prime award to help Minnesota build their new Paid Leave program, which will launch in January 2026. For this two-year contract, we’ll partner with Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to build a Paid Leave benefits portal for applicants, employers, and agency staff to manage the program, as well as a backend platform that integrates with other state services.

Nava is a public benefit corporation on a mission to make government services simple, effective, and accessible to all. We’ll leverage our deep expertise in benefit delivery systems to help Minnesota develop a Paid Leave program that’s human-centered, adaptable, and resilient.

“We are honored to partner with Minnesota on this important effort that will support about 3 million Minnesota workers and their loved ones,” said Nava CEO and co-founder Rohan Bhobe. “This is our third opportunity to help design and build a state’s paid leave program as the prime or co-prime contractor. Massachusetts’ program is considered best-in-class, and we’ll look to their successes and best practices in our partnership with Minnesota.”

Since 2020, Nava has partnered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on its paid family and medical leave (PFML) program. In just 13 months, we helped Massachusetts design, build, test, and launch a new PFML program that helps workers apply for and manage PFML benefits. Since its launch in 2021, the program has paid out more than $3 billion in benefits and supported nearly 500,000 unique applicants and their families.
