Armed with perspective gained over a decade with the agency, including recently leading the Digital Square mechanism, a 170 million dollar initiative, to support open source Global Good software, coordination multi-donor Digital Health initiatives, advocate for country run National Digital Health Strategies and support USAID missions Digital Health implementations, this leader takes on a new challenge.

Merrick Schaefer is now listed as the Director of USAID’s Center for Innovation and Impact (CII) in the Global Health Bureau.

In sharing the news Merrick posted:

I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as the Director of the Center for Innovation and Impact in the Global Health Bureau at USAID! I’m really excited to take on this leadership role and grow the fantastic work CII has led during the last decade. Whether it is Digital Health, Innovative Financing, Market Access or Innovation, CII is always finding impactful ways to improve countries’ health systems. Thanks to the previous leadership of Amy Lin, David Milestone, and Wendy Taylor for building such a fantastic office.
