Mobile District is in need of various additional Scientific and Technical Support including additional IM/IT services.

2.1.  District-Wide Scientific & Technology and IM/IT Support.

2.1.1.  Technical Library Services.  The library resources will emphasize the information areas of Engineering, Environmental Studies, Biology, Oceanography, Outdoor Recreation, Public Administration, Water Resources, and Congressional Legislation as well as other areas that impact the Mobile District. Services provided relate to activities typically associated with the overall management and operation of a technical library.

  1. Assist District and Field Office personnel by providing scientific and technical information, as requested and required.
  2. Maintain existing paper and electronic document organization and/or its reorganization and maintenance.
  3. Catalog documents and the assignment of associated file numbers.
  4. Properly place all relevant and/or accountable information originating from within or outside the District into the technical library in a standard and centralized format.
  5. Keep abreast of the current knowledge related to technical library information and services.
  6. Make routine acquisitions and providing for appropriate maintenance of reference materials.
  7. Provide circulation of requested materials to Corps personnel.
  8. Provide in-library access to various electronic databases.
  9. Request and/or provide inter- library loans as requested.
  10. Acquire and maintain an array of audio and video tapes, DVDs, CDs, microfilm and microfiche files.
  11. Maintain detailed work record for reporting to task leader.

2.1.2.  Electronic Document Development.

  1. Convert selected source documents to an acceptable electronic format, provide the scanned image for verification, and provide electronic storage indexing and retrieval capability.
  2. Scan documents, convert to electronic format, and maintain a file/directory structure and database to ensure access to documents.
  3. Utilize MicroStation or AutoCADD to edit existing drawings and create raster-to-vector images and vice versa. Prime Vector software will be used to create new images to be viewed by MicroStation or AutoCADD.
  4. Serve as the Local Records Storage Manager back-up as needed.
