Noting a very busy 2023 in which they had added a Chief Delivery Officer, VP of Solutions and Partnerships, VP of Enterprise Solutions, a Director of Identity Policy and Industry Relations, and a Chief People Officer; joined the Alliance for Digital Innovation; scored a first program win with CFPB, and a $50M BPA with the Department of Education, OS AI decided it was high time we found out more about this growing 8(a) WOSB. Here, Easy Dynamics CEO Poupak Afshar shares why they are a two-sided coin, why koolaid is key and why lines are meant to be blurred, and how a large umbrella and a niche set this team up for success.

Two Sides of the Coin

Co-founded by Poupak Afshar and CTO Pirooz Javan, Easy Dynamics was founded with an eye to achieving technical excellence, but also as a company that was employee centric from the start, that fostered an environment in which people are valued and want to put their best foot forward. The company’s hires over the past several months represent both the addition of expertise and a focus on ensuring that the positive work culture component remains.

Allocating funds to each team member for professional development, Easy Dynamics is also focused on encouraging development within its team, supporting them in growing and adding knowledge that will help them move forward in their career. “We want to ensure our people feel valued, supported, that they have a sense of accountability and that they feel safe to share perspective, to grow outside of whatever role they may hold.”

Drinking the Koolaid

Embodying a culture of transparency, leadership is open to any and all ideas and, when those ideas may not fit the need, is open about the longer-term vision and why something may not align at the time. And they encourage sharing across the entire organization. “We often see people seeking input and advice, some related to work projects, some not, and others will jump in with what they know and have experienced. It’s all about supporting and helping each other as we can.”

“We recently had a group of summer interns here and across the board they all commented on our culture, how much they loved being here. Our Chief Culture Officer, Fauci (a golden doodle) makes sure everyone who wants to, feels the love and gets some attention. He spends a big part of his day making the rounds.”

Lines Blurred

When it comes to partners, Easy Dynamics deliberately draws no distinction, saying if they are working with a partner team, they are in the trenches together, as one team. Leaning on the value of treating others as they wish to be treated applies across the board. That value can also serve as a lesson learned when the treatment is not reciprocated. “Just because we partnered with someone once does not mean we will again. If we cannot stand behind the way they operate, the way they treat our people, it is best we each move on.”

Turning back to that notion of transparency, Poupak notes there are many companies they likely do align with, could form great teams with, but sometimes it is hard to identify. “When a company does not openly share who they are or what they value, how do you put them on your radar, how do you make that conclusion it is a door you want to open?”

Easy Dynamics continues to build relationships, not just on one data point, but multiple including reputation, the work being done, the team members they can claim, and the values they can identify, and they are always open to discussion with those who they align with.

Beyond Cybersecurity

While cybersecurity may be the company’s focus, Easy Dynamics understands that, because the cyber umbrella is so large it cannot be experts in it all. They have honed their niche on the area of ICAM (identity, credential, and access management), on cloud migration and having that security and compliance components baked in.

“Helping federal customer meet ongoing OMB guidance, moving toward Zero Trust, and doing so in a way that is efficient we are able to quickly deliver and meet their needs. For the Department of Education, over a 10-month period, we were able to modernize over 80 applications, integrate Login.gov and automate their employee and contractor onboarding process, including making sure that they have the right access on day one.”

The team is also supporting the USDA, IRS and GSA with similar efforts. “Every federal agency has a digital identity strategy that needs to be constantly modernized and pivot to meet growing challenges. Our focus is on helping federal agencies meet their goals, while protecting our people, places and way of life.”
