The competitive landscape for the Federal IT and Consulting sector is dynamic, with companies entering and exiting every day for a range of reasons. A goal for any Government and GovCon leader is to identify, establish relationships with, and support firms, and their respective leaders, which are positioned to serve as the next generation of highly successful GovCon small businesses.

This week started with a big announcement that the Digital Services Coalition, a collection of agile technology and design firms that serve—or aspire to serve—the government, had added 11 new members. Included here we highlight four of the smaller, but rapidly emerging businesses that are NEW (have been formed and/or launched in the last few years), that joined DSC and that should be on your radar as both a potential partner and competitor.

And yes, we have covered some of these firms before, but this new announcement just gives us another opportunity to shine a light on them.

Coa Solutions

Founded and led by CEO Ari Perez, a West Point Grad and Veteran who not only brings experience as a Digital Services Expert supporting Veterans Affairs modernization efforts, but also as someone who receives benefits from the VA, it is easy to understand why there is a strong passion for improving the way Veterans access and use the services they’ve earned. Armed with a range of experiences, to include as a former United States Digital Service Product Manager supporting VA and DHS, and in roles at Deloitte, Accenture, and within government contractors, where he sharpened skills in software development and cloud technologies, this HUBZone SDVOSB and AWS partner is keenly focused on delivering high-impact software solutions that address the unique needs and challenges of government and private sector clients. #perspectivematters

Snowbird Agility

Founded and led by CEO, and former Army Cryptolinguist, Sharon Grimm, the passion, energy and the message this newly cetified 8(a), woman-, minority-and Veteran-owned small business and team of seasoned Agile practitioners (Agilists) is serving up about their desire to improve the lives of those wanting to build software without limits, appears to be resonating far and wide. Whether it is picking up key wins to drive Agile Transformation for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; securing a coveted spot on an OPM Digital Services BPA team looking to drive exceptional digital products and experiences; or expanding its commercial footprint, this EDWOSB and VOSB certified company with stated capabilities in PMO Support, Digital Transformation and Application Development, appears to just be getting started. #DigitalTransformation #DigitalModernization #innovation #GovCon

Blue Tiger

Whether it is supporting Veterans Affairs efforts to understand how to migrate millions of Veterans from legacy credential providers to Login.gov, or helping to facilitate a series of product management workshops to support development of a roadmap for #systemsmodernization at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, this newly launched and well-connected people-first, design-forward digital consultancy is making quick inroads with some of the biggest Federal Health agencies. Founded by CEO Shashank Khandelwal, a former member of 18F and fellow at CFP, and President, Chris Smith, an industry growth leader who has supported and driven growth for some of the top GovCon firms in the sector today, early success was to be expected for this #alwaysremote small business.  #digitalservices #HCD #onetowatch

Archesys

On the heels of winning their first Prime contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, this 8(a) certified firm founded by Ketan Patel, a former CMS OIT Cloud Lead and a USDS Digital Service Expert, appears to be making all of the right moves (and hires) of late. Armed with relationships and perspective gained driving significant Federal initiatives across the Federal sector and a set of capabilities that range from Digital Strategy, Modernization, Cloud Governance & Operations, and FinOps, to Software Development, Product/Platform Engineering and IT Services Design Thinking, this small business has become one of the most viewed companies on our partner platform of late. #makingwaves

We should note that the other 7 that were added as part of this group of 11, include several top players in the spaceAnalytica, BlueLabs, Cognitive Medical Systems, Element Solutions, Focus Consulting, SimonComputing, & Valiant Solutions.

This brings the total membership base of DSC up to 48 firms. Congrats to 2023 Engage FedGov Honoree, Traci Walker, and the rest of the DSC team on building such a vibrant and most needed community of innovators and leaders.
