Stuck in the MAPS Traffic Jam? Army’s New $50B Contract Draws Crowds—and Logistical Challenges

The U.S. Army’s new Marketplace for the Acquisition of Professional Services (MAPS) contract is sparking a frenzy in the GovCon world, and with good reason. With a massive $50B 10-year potential, this contract is a game-changer, merging the benefits of two major existing contracts: Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 3 – Services (ITES-3S) and Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3). MAPS aims to offer its customers access a range of professional services, from cybersecurity to program management. But, like any high-stakes race, not everyone has found it easy to get a spot on the track.

Last week, the Army held an industry day at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, drawing hundreds – many from D.C. and Northern Virginia area – all seeking a chance to connect face-to-face with government leaders and scope out the competition. However, demand to attend was so high that the in-person registration reached capacity almost instantly, and the turnout created a gridlock. The limited security setup left over 100 cars full of eager attendees stuck outside the gate, missing the entire event. “Our hope is that the Army will host another industry day, preferably at Ft. Belvoir, soon to ensure those who missed out get a chance to hear more about this important contract” shared one industry leader.

What You Missed—and How to Catch Up

To be held tomorrow, November 13, 2024 – For those who were unable to attend or simply want a deeper dive, Red Team Consulting, in partnership with GovTechConnects and OrangeSlices, is hosting a virtual “MAPS: Industry Day Highlights and Key Takeaways” event, offering critical insights to help companies position themselves as strong contenders. Attendees will get an overview of MAPS, including:

  • Key takeaways from the Army Industry Day
  • Winning strategies for MAPS
  • Guidance on Full & Open and Small Business pursuits
  • Teaming tactics for the competitive GovCon landscape

Register for the event here.

Why MAPS Matters

With ITES-3S and RS3 set to sunset in 2027, the Army has taken the opportunity to consolidate and simplify by merging both under MAPS. This contract’s creation aligns with the Army’s digital transformation efforts and Agile acquisition processes, promising to deliver an efficient and effective way for the Army, the Department of Defense, and federal agencies to procure essential knowledge-based services.

So, if you’re gearing up for a competitive run at this contract, make sure to attend tomorrow’s event… It is 100% virtual, so the odds of getting stuck outside the gate are next to none.
