NobleReach Names Former Senior Commerce Department Official Sree Ramaswamy as Chief Innovation Officer

NobleReach™, a nonprofit dedicated to scaling private-public partnerships around talent and innovation in the national interest, today announced that Sreenivas (Sree) Ramaswamy would join the team full-time as its Chief Innovation Officer. Sree served as senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce from early 2021 to 2024, focusing on emerging technology, supply chain resiliency and industrial policy. As a NobleReach Fellow, he advised the organization on technology, talent and innovation incubation to support U.S. national and economic security.

“NobleReach’s mission to deepen America’s talent and innovation ecosystem to strengthen our national and economic security is a natural corollary to my work in and out of government on emerging technology and industrial policy,” said Sree Ramaswamy, Chief Innovation Officer. “We are at a unique moment of enormous challenge and opportunity, and it’s critical that the private and public sectors align to maximize the competitive utility of our research capabilities.”

Over the last three years, NobleReach has collaborated with over 100 Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and National Science Foundation (NSF) funded researchers and ventures to build out a path towards dual-use impact.

The Science to Venture program is a platform to drive local innovation in the national interest. Specifically, NobleReach partners with universities, local institutions, and federal agencies to develop local commercialization talent trained in proven methods to identify and advance promising research, driving regional growth and national impact. Sree will lead the innovation and management of the S2V program.

“A true public-private sector ‘dual citizen’ of industry and government, Sree embodies NobleReach’s mission to inspire top entrepreneurial thinkers to solve big problems, bringing his own wealth of experience from both government and the private sector to his new role,” said Arun Gupta, CEO of NobleReach. “Sree’s expertise and background position him perfectly to lead our work to drive innovation in the national interest and build out our Science to Venture program.”

Prior to his service at the Commerce Department, Sree was a Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Washington DC office and at the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), the non-profit business and economics research arm of McKinsey. Prior to joining McKinsey in 2008, Sree spent nearly a decade in the US aerospace and telecom sectors with roles in engineering and regulatory affairs. He holds three patents, an MBA, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in computer engineering and telecommunications.
