In this role Carlos will lead policy and strategy at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data governance, and biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), developing frameworks that enable innovation while protecting sensitive data at scale through work that focuses on applying AI in domains where data are restricted and errors have real-world consequences. This includes leading policy development for generative AI and establishing security and operational standards for controlled-access data.
