The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is conducting market research for the Data COUNTS™ (Collect Data Once, Use Numerous Times) initiative, an effort supporting the agency’s Real-World Data program. The Request for Information (RFI) is aimed at companies with technologies that extract, process, and securely manage clinical data from electronic medical records and other healthcare systems while preserving source provenance, permissions, and metadata.
The RFI outlines capabilities for electronic medical record extraction, automated data quality validation, de-identification, privacy-preserving record linkage, workflow auditing, encryption, security logging, and secure transmission of approved datasets. NIH is also seeking technologies that operate within a healthcare partner’s environment and remain in place for ongoing use by site personnel after deployment.
In addition to technical capabilities, NIH is requesting information on commercial versus custom functionality, pricing models, implementation experience, healthcare deployments, and experience supporting federal agencies. Responses will help inform acquisition planning for the Data COUNTS initiative.
