The Air Force is conducting market research for an intelligent scheduling platform designed to improve workforce management across 24/7 operational environments, beginning with a pilot focused on Security Forces personnel.
Headquarters Air Force A1 is seeking industry input on technologies capable of replacing manual spreadsheet-based scheduling processes with an automated solution that improves schedule management, reduces administrative burden, and supports compliance with rest and fatigue-management requirements.
According to the RFI, the Air Force is evaluating both commercial off-the-shelf solutions and platform-based development approaches that could support automated shift scheduling, qualification tracking, minimum manning requirements, fatigue management, leave and absence management, and dynamic roster adjustments.
The agency envisions a phased approach beginning with a pilot deployment and potentially expanding to enterprise use across Air Force Security Forces organizations and other continuous operations environments.
The RFI also emphasizes compatibility with Air Force enterprise technology environments and seeks solutions capable of operating within DoD cybersecurity requirements while leveraging CAC authentication, AFNet access, and integration with personnel data sources.
In addition to core scheduling functions, the Air Force is seeking industry feedback on capabilities involving predictive analytics, machine learning, mobile access, self-service scheduling features, and AI-enabled support tools designed to help optimize scheduling and fatigue management.
The effort is intended to help the Air Force better understand available technologies, deployment approaches, and acquisition strategies before determining any future procurement path.
