Mathematica Cloud Platform Achieves FedRAMP Authorized Status

Mathematica today announced that its Mathematica Cloud Support System (MCSS) has achieved a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®) Authorization. The designation, awarded to just 337 government partners to date, enables federal agencies to accelerate their missions and digital transformations with full confidence that the cloud applications configured using MCSS meet stringent security and reliability standards. Mathematica’s multi-year commitment to achieving FedRAMP Authorized status demonstrates the organization’s value to the federal market and delivers a higher level of security standards for our non-federal clients.

“Secure access to scalable cloud computing resources is increasingly necessary to safeguard information and speed up delivery of insights and solutions from that information,” said Akira Bell, Mathematica senior vice president and chief information officer. “With this FedRAMP Authorization for the Mathematica Cloud Support System, both federal and non-federal clients can leverage Mathematica’s diverse catalog of secure, cloud-based solutions, knowing that their information and data are protected to the highest standards and are readily accessible to drive greater impact.”

MCSS, launched in March 2020, is a cloud-based platform developed through a collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Mathematica. MCSS represents cloud security best practices and includes cloud governance, oversight, policy enforcement, and cost management services. MCSS provides a highly secure and flexible cloud-first option for supporting client and partner applications, including Mathematica’s secure, data collaboration platform, Mquiry.

In January 2023, MCSS was listed as FedRAMP “In Process” in the FedRAMP.gov Marketplace after receiving a FedRAMP Authority to Operate (ATO) by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. With today’s announcement, MCSS has now been designated as “Authorized,” a significant achievement which highlights Mathematica’s continued commitment to cloud security and being a trusted data steward for the public sector.

FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. FedRAMP provides assurances to federal agencies that certified cloud providers have met rigorous security and risk management standards. The FedRAMP designation recognizes organizations that meet the most stringent cloud security requirements in government today.
