I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Co-Founder, CEO at Huntridge Labs, LLC! I am very excited to finally pull the trigger on starting my own company. We’re on a mission to apply emerging technologies for public benefit. Our plan is to make good on this promise as such: we are going to take the status quo, throw it in a trash can, and light it on fire.   We’re making some bold bets that I hope will catalyze some positive changes in our industry and usher in a new generation of corporate thinking. We’re keeping a very narrow focus on AI/ML-driven product design and engineering. Why? “Pick one thing and be the best at it.” I’ve seen many small businesses in my time that “do everything”. I believe that if you market yourself as an Agile DevSecOps AI BlockChain Helpdesk Cybersecurity PMO company, yet you are still a small business, the reality is you have no real expertise in any of those things. We are setting up Huntridge Labs to be the exact opposite. Our ethos is to deliver the work as efficiently as possible. Great ideas from the brightest minds will run our company, not old-school hierarchies. We reject wasteful meetings, outdated & inefficient org structures, and superficial committees that do a poor job at disguising dysfunction. We won’t measure success by headcount or dollars, but by solving real-world problems efficiently and inexpensively. College degrees and traditional hiring metrics don’t define one’s capability or potential; results do. We do not believe in penny-pinching practices that line a few pockets and ignore the needs of the many. We do not use the term “resource” to describe our employees – they are human beings, not a mineral. We believe in providing people with one of the best compensation and benefits packages around so you no longer have to make that difficult compromise between working for a tech startup versus Public Sector. We’ve faced skepticism about our unconventional approach – that it would never work within the confines of Government bureaucracy and contract structures. Through the years, I’ve been told things like “Agile would never happen – it’s just a fad that will wear off”. Or, “DevOps can’t possibly work, because Development and Sustainment contracts have to be budgeted separately.” “Cloud would never happen because, that’s for cat videos”. Seriously, a customer actually said that to me circa 2014. And recently, “AI is just a flash in the pan”. All the naysayers were dead wrong. So I’ll go with my gut on this one. If you are looking to hire an engineering firm that can deliver its promises without all the red tape, I’d love to work with you. If your corporate culture embraces a similar delivery approach, I’d love to partner with you. If you are amazing at what you do but are tired of working for a company that puts profits over people, I’d love to hire you. In short, Huntridge Labs will be a disruptive force for good. A pirate ship has just pulled into the port of GovCon.
