The Federal Communications Commission has signed a $1 contract for an enterprise subscription with OpenAI in support of a pilot program they are launching in FY26.
The agreement, titled the OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise AI Cloud Service Pilot, is a limited, time bound trial of OpernAI’s enterprise tier AI platform.
The one dollar contract reflects the structure of a defined evaluation phase rather than a full deployment.
With this step, the FCC joins other federal agencies conducting formal pilot programs of commercial AI services before making longer term procurement decisions.
