In advance of recompete, AttainX awarded USDA APHIS VEHCS, PCIY, and LAWGS systems support bridge contract

Updated March 24, 2026

USDA has shared additional detail behind its recent extension to AttainX, confirming the action is a short-term bridge to maintain continuity while a full recompete is prepared.

The three-month effort covers operations, maintenance, development, and minor enhancements for critical APHIS systems that support the import, export, and tracking of animal and plant commodities, functions tied directly to large volumes of U.S. trade and regulatory enforcement.

The agency cites timing challenges associated with transitioning the requirement to the STRATUS acquisition team as the driver behind the extension, with AttainX selected as the incumbent best positioned to avoid disruption.

USDA makes clear this is a temporary bridge, put in place to allow time to “set up and award a competitive contract.” The agency states it is actively conducting market research and developing the RFQ for STRATUS, with plans to re-compete the full requirement as a base year plus one option year. A fair opportunity will be provided to all eligible STRATUS vendors once released. More here.
