The Army’s Cyber Future Capability Directorate is conducting market research to identify emerging electronic warfare technologies that could support future experimentation and modernization efforts aligned with the Army 2030-2040 vision. Through a new Request for Information, the Army is seeking feedback from industry and academia as it develops its experimentation strategy for fiscal years 2027 and 2028.
The effort supports the Army’s ongoing Electronic Warfare Capabilities Based Assessment and is intended to identify technologies that can improve how future forces sense, protect, and maneuver across increasingly contested electromagnetic environments. The Army is specifically looking for adaptable, scalable, rapidly deployable capabilities that can operate across multiple platforms while supporting multidomain operations.
Among the priority capabilities are AI and machine learning-enabled electronic warfare systems, autonomous communications, advanced spectrum sensing, rapid waveform adaptation, low-cost payloads for unmanned systems, distributed electromagnetic attack, resilient networking, and technologies capable of surveying and responding to changing electromagnetic conditions in real time. The Army is also interested in solutions that support deception, obfuscation, and remote operation across broad frequency ranges.
A notable aspect of the RFI is that it may help shape a future Commercial Solutions Opening. The Army states it is evaluating commercial acquisition approaches that could accelerate the procurement and fielding of electronic warfare capabilities identified through this market research and future experimentation activities. Industry is being asked to describe existing capabilities, prior participation in Army or Joint experimentation, and current technology readiness levels.
