The Artificial Intelligence Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (AI ANTX) fiscal year 2024 (FY24) Challenge is looking for cutting-edge machine learning (ML) algorithms that can translate spoken language into actionable maritime information. The challenge welcomes individual participants, teams, and commercial or academic entities based in the United States. Additionally, individual participants and team members must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 18 or older as of April 1, 2024. Submissions from NAVWAR support contractors will be evaluated but are not eligible to receive the cash award associated with the Challenge. This challenge, offering a total of $150,000 in cash prizes, seeks innovative AI-driven technologies that can interpret unstructured language to enhance decision-making within naval operations. Participants are tasked with developing AI solutions that can monitor conversations, extract relevant information, provide predictive analytics, and even suggest courses of action based on commanders’ intents. Key dates for the challenge include: – Phase 1: Submission of white papers and quad charts by May 15, 2024. – Phase 2: Selected participants will advance to test their AI technologies at a maritime event in July 2024. Winners will be selected based on the operational impact, technical performance, integration complexity, and maturity of their AI technologies. To participate, individuals or entities must submit detailed white papers describing their AI technology and its operational benefits. If selected, participants will further develop and test their AI solutions using provided datasets and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services.
